What SENSE Does It Make To Even Attempt To OVERHAUL A "Machine" That Has Never Ever Worked? Or The RADICAL versus The Conservative

My Daily Business Noose - right on their front page they have this "Quick Edit" - and today's was on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India "making a point" - the point being that "the time has come for the expeditious disposal of pending cases." The Quick Editor quickly agreed - concluding that the judicial machinery needs a "wholesale overhaul."

These metaphors from engineering - ever so often ABUSED in the "social sciences," especially Economics (such as "equilibrium") - must be treated with extreme caution.

"The TIME has come... " said the CJI - yesterday!

And this is what our The State's Law Minister confessed in an interview, as quoted in my post of over a month ago:

Justice is no longer affordable for the ordinary man. It is the UPA government's foremost priority to ensure affordable and quality access to justice for the masses as also expediting the disposal of cases. Huge pendency of undecided cases approximately 3.15 crore does not augur well for the system. [1 crore = 10 million.]

OVERHAUL - as in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - is undertaken on a machine that has done you excellent service for ten to even fifteen years.

When has this Ugly State Monopoly of a Judicial Machinery ever worked?

For how many DECADES have we all been hearing about the "massive backlog" of cases pending before these courts?

THINK - long and hard - before writing a "quick opinion."

OVERHAUL - this word did come to mind when I read their regular columnist V Anantha Nageswaran's piece of today, titled "Capitalism on an empty tank" - of which the sub-heading says it all:

The new normal is that economic policy should support the chimera of economic growth and asset prices by all means

Nageswaran is a "professional" wealth manager based in Singapore - and his columns are always "intelligent."

But their lead opinion piece - by Brazil's finance minister! - on Brazil's "economic miracle" - does indicate that my Daily Business Noose is indeed employing "all means to support the chimera of economic growth and asset price INFLATION!"

OVERHAUL? - how can one overhaul BRAINS that have NEVER WORKED?

OVERHAUL? - how can we overhaul this SERIOUS FRAUD "legal tender funny money" based INFLATIONIST-WELFARISM designed by those pursuing the UGLY VOTE MOTIVE and their hangers-on - including hangers-on in the CORPORATIST MASS MEDIA, including crony academics, crony banksters, and crony "finance capitalists"?

OVERHAUL? - can we really overhaul any of our mega shitties? And my Daily Business Noose had a half-page ad saying they were soon to bring out a "special feature" on India's "urban challenge" - and in that they will "examine all measures carried out so far."

Well, all I can say is that THEIR BRAINS require a TRANSPLANT!

Independent India has NEVER attempted - and actually DISCOURAGED by all the most foul means - URBANISATION.

Since 1935 - this vast sub-continent has been actively pursuing the CHARADE of gandhian-socialist RURAL DEVELOPMENT.

And this RURAL DEVELOPMENT is still CONTINUING as I write!

The British - that is, The Honourable East India Company - they saw to a FANTASTIC URBAN EXPLOSION! - leave aside all the Brand New Cities - and LOOK at the 80+ brand new HILL-STATIONS developed in less than 50 years!

What has happened to ALL these hill-stations since?

DESTROYED!

Again - LOOK at how this fantastic urban explosion just happened - and you will SEE certain PATTERNS:

First: The role of PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION - from the PRIMARY CITY to these new hill stations - private railways then, since the automobile was yet to be invented!

Second: The overall "hubs-and-spokes" of any honest PROFIT MOTIVE guided transport and real estate investments - so the Darjeeling to Shillong BELT linked to Calcutta; the Poona-Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani et. al. BELT linked to Bombay; the Ooty, Kodaikanal, Nilgiris BELT linked to MADRAS; and the entire Simla, Mussoorie BELT linked to Delhi.

Third: HOMESTEADING - of all the UNOWNED HILLS - for plantation crops like tea and coffee; for roads and railways; and for private property development as well.

[The book Colonial Urban Development pictured above is by Anthony D King - a highly recommended read.]

What has Free and Independent Socialist, Centrally Planned India done about URBANISATION in well over 60 years?

1. Sent Central Funny Money to their very own "lower orders": JNURRM - to "buy buses" for State-owned bus services that incur LOSSES, of course!

2. Stop road-construction PAN-INDIA - especially from the PRIMARY CITIES into their surrounds - the best example being the NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION itself! The Deliberate, Carefully PLANNED RURAL-URBAN DIVIDE!

3. FUCK the railways; FUCK the automobile; and FUCK civil aviation as well.

OVERHAUL?

You "maintain" a machine that WORKS? - that's the ZEN of it all.

What the FUCK do you do with this Central Ministry of Urban Development, the Central Ministry of Rural Development, the Central Ministry of Railways, the Central Ministry for Highways Transportation, or even the central ministries of Shipping and Civil Aviation?

This is the essential difference between The Conservative in Politics - and The Radical.

The Conservative knows full well that The System has WORKED perfectly well in the past - and hence wishes to CONSERVE it - as with Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

The English have more-or-less always been "conservative" in Politics - the best example being of Edmund Burke's reaction to the French Revolution.

But in that very same England, when Margaret Thatcher led their Conservative Party, what she carried out can only be described as RADICAL CHANGE - because it was OBVIOUS that whatever the Labour Party had done over decades had to GO!

We in India today have absolutely NOTHING within Politics & Government that is worth "conserving" - hence, we must:

THINK RADICAL!

Anyway - my BEST READ in a long time came from Mark Thornton - on the "Oslo Housing Bubble Syndrome" - and it's really worth THINKING about whether the VAST MAJORITY of extremely poor people in all our mega-shitties must keep on suffering such urban disaster zones only because the property values of a handful of wealthy and middle-class CRONIES are rising - and these include the CRONY BANKS. Here's a relevant quote:

Given that the Oslo syndrome applies to an entire nation, and that Norway is living through what will hopefully be the final housing bubble of this cycle, I thought it appropriate to dub the psychological phenomenon associated with housing bubbles, the “Oslo housing bubble syndrome.” This psychological phenomenon is the “irrational” response of people living in a bubble economy. They ignore or dismiss signs of a bubble and instead attribute their good luck (i.e. higher home prices) to “fundamental factors” that appear to substantiate high prices in real estate or stocks.

So, when I read - every single day - of how THEY will now "regularise" some 350+ UNAUTHORISED COLONIES in New Delhi - and then, I SEE all these Huge Big Ads every single day of these Ugly-as-Hell "high-rise apartments" for sale - in Delhi, Gurgaon, NOIDA, Ghaziabad - I now realise, thanks to Mark Thornton - that we, too, are in his "Housing Bubble Syndrome" of or own.

But the Very Good News HERE is that the VAST MAJORITY would - I am supremely confident - much rather prefer to just FUCK OFF:

To New Republics along the Twin Coasts.

OVERHAUL?
Wrong Word - Very Wrong Word, indeed!

INDYEAH!
That's what I would like to call this New Future that beckons.
