If agents of The State STOP you from opening your business - any business - your survival is going to be difficult, uncertain, and even precarious.
But it is YOU who are on the strong moral ground - for consensual exchanges are mutually agreed-upon actions in which both parties gain and no one is hurt. There is no "crime against any individual"; nor is there any "tort."
On the contrary, these legislated restrictions cause "public immorality" - and are evil.
They are the primary cause of MASS POVERTY.
You must defend your freedom from all predators - that is what Life is all about. Yesterday's post covered many reasons why.
In this completely free market society, there prevails a "natural order": thus, when they say "normalcy has returned" to Srinagar, Kashmir, the photos are of shoppers crowding the market areas, all shops open, and all that. No soldiers, no guns.
This body politic is within ONE CITY - where we meet each other physically. This is where "physical properties" exist - and are exchanged. It is only thereafter that various body politics recognising the same rules enter into exchanges with each other: the hubs-and-spokes of an association of free trading and self-governing cities and towns, each with its own CIVIC SWORD.
The "common rules" are the old ones of common law England: Property, Contracts, and Torts.
These PROTECT you, and your properties.
These do not COERCE you - as with "democratic legislation."
Think it over: You have the VOTE today, all over this vast sub-continent where over 1 billion souls reside - and you cannot open a beer bar at will anywhere!
Or a place where music is played and people dance.
What do you want?
Liberty?
Or this VOTE - which gets legislators elected, and all this repressive legislation passed by all these "interfering busybodies"?
DEMOCRACY IS NOT FREEDOM - just look at the USSA today, where they are all "born to be jailed."
So, POLITICAL FREEDOM means a BODY POLITIC where the same LAW applies to all - a law that has come from the hoary past, and has worked for ages.
There was also a long quote in yesterday's post on what common law England of the Middle Ages was like.
The "natural order" will then be a permanent feature of all these body politics - and there will be no "mafia" anywhere. Their ROOT CAUSE is "democratic legislation." This empowers and politicises the police - and gang wars become endemic. EVIL!
Next comes FREEDOM EDUCATION - which means teaching ALL about the VALUE OF FREEDOM and its various aspects. So, little kids could be taught the basics - orally - before they even learn to read or write. Some of them who want to know more could be given good books. And then, there could be deep scholars, who could go much further.
This FREEDOM EDUCATION maintains the body politic through the generations.

Of course, all should know the "rules of the road" in this modern, automobilised world - but we in India are yet to even apply them, which is why over 1000 of us die on our roads every single day. We will return to this topic later.
A free society centred around the market economy is INDIVIDUALISTIC - based on individual property, individual risk-taking in liberty, and also INDIVIDUAL SECURITY.
Unarmed citizens are neither free nor secure - look at the mayhem just 10 "terrorists" could cause over two whole days in overpopulated Mumbai, only because the entire citizenry has been forcibly unarmed.
The fully armed State Police are another UGLY MONOPOLY - and they can "withdraw" their service at will, as during the Sikh pogroms in Delhi in 1984.
Freedom means The Right To Keep And Bear Arms.

Anyway, their "arms licensing" is no better than the RTO's auto-rickshaw license. Just as the stupid auto costs 6,50,000 rupees - more than the cost of two new foreign small cars - an ordinary handgun costs more than 2,00,000 rupees because of this license of theirs, which means only they are "licensed to kill" - us!
I will discuss "police failure" below, under State Failure.
But, for now, let us look at the FACT that 1000 Indians are "dying on the streets" every single day in road accidents. Very few Indians have cars. There are precious few roads. Yet, the death toll is STAGGERING.
The only way out is to ABOLISH the driving license of the RTO - and hand over roads and road safety to private road companies as well as private insurers. Where roads are so unsafe, everyone will buy insurance - and the private insurer will have the necessary INCENTIVE to check out the driver's ability and also look into road safety engineering and signage on the private roads. We will finally be safe. Yet, there will be some accidents, people will get hurt - and then TORTS offer they way out, while also giving every driver the INCENTIVE to drive carefully.
SAFETY AND SECURITY - WITHOUT THE STATE.
Let us now look at the many dimensions of State Failure in India.
POLITICAL: There is a complete absence of "political order" in India. None of the "national political parties" command majorities of their own. Coalitions based on "spoils" have been looting India since 1990. Further, the Central State employs over 200 battalions of "para-military forces" for deployment in regions affected by armed rebellion - regions that cover over 60 per cent of the territory. No "politics" is employed to "restore political order." Only GUNS!

They are borrowing over Rs. 6,50,000 crores this year (1 crore is 10 million) - and I called this year's Budget an act of "high treason" also because they were taxing gold and all other precious metals, as well as real estate transactions, thereby propping up their monopoly paper currency and preventing all our poor people from taking a "flight into real value." Their MOTIVE is evil: despoliation of the poor. A Budget of a previous year I had termed a "monster's budget."
FINANCIAL: The Central State is BROKE. INTELLECTUAL: The governing ideas of the political class - from central economic planning to import substitution and export promotion to rural development - these deserve to be in the dustbin.
MORAL: The amount of corruption in each and every organ of the State is DISGUSTING.
FUNCTIONAL: Not a single governmental function is performed - not even the zebra crossing. And too many functions have been monopolised - like electricity - and wee the people get further screwed as a result.
LEGAL: The courts system does NOT work at all - too many pending cases (because of legislation) and thus, there is NO JUSTICE. This includes CRIMINAL JUSTICE, which can be dispensed with by adopting the Law of Torts, whereby the only "crime" is a "crime against an individual or his properties," for which the "victim" must be financially compensated by the guilty party. RESTITUTION - which is Justice.
ADMINISTRATIVE: The basic task of maintaining land records and settling ownership disputes has been long abandoned. They are all into "welfare" and the "rural development" business. Budget-maximisation!
REGULATORY: From the RTO to civil aviation to telecom - where the spectrum ought to be "homesteaded" - to Broadcasting (TV & Radio) to Insurance to the worst of them all: ENVIRONMENTAL (which includes forestry) - the FACT remains that a completely free, unregulated (by legislation and its "empowered bureaucracy") and governed by Private Property Rights would make us all much better off, morally as well as economically, which means as consumers.
POLICE: Just look at their MISERABLE "conviction rate": which reflects on their professionalism in the detection and investigation of crime. They only perform VIP security - and tyrannise us. They are NOT a "public service" at all.
URBAN DISASTER: No municipality works. They are also "predatory." Further, there is a housing crisis for the vast majority of urban Indians - because The State monopolises land and "allots" it. Scandals involving top politicians and bureaucrats - and even top generals - have occurred.
TRANSPORT DISASTER: The transportation disaster wastes Time on a colossal scale, makes trade between cities and regions close to impossible and, what is even worse, adds to urban overcrowding by not allowing population to spread out: The so-called National Capital Region around Delhi is the best example. There are ZERO transport links within this region.
MILITARY: The Indian Army within Manipur and Kashmir is TYRANNY. The 30-year old Siachen War is NONSENSE. The Air Force is crashing every day. And the Indian Navy is just PROTECTING SAND - for there is NO TRADE by the Open Sea. The British Empire was built by "merchant ships" - like those of the Honourable East India Company. The Royal Navy used FORCE to obtain able-bodied men to man their warships - "press gangs" - though these were subsequently outlawed. I have recently written about why classical liberals disapproved of "standing armies."
MASS POVERTY: A phenomenon that ought to PROVE that their Economics is BULL. And as for welfarism financed through inflationism - it is an EXTREMELY CRUEL JOKE to "cheat the poor" with this UGLY CHARADE. Self-help, self-esteem - and the Liberty to freely trade goods and services: these are the ideas that our poor people need to know about.
MASS IGNORANCE: Which is surely why the vast majority have willingly submitted to "free and compulsory education" from this Failed State. They all happily pay the "education tax" for the purpose. With this, The State gives free mid-day meals to schoolkids - while poisoning their minds.
For its LEGITIMACY, this Failed State relies on Force, on its Corporate Clients, on Lies and Propaganda, and, of course, on its MISEDUCATION MONOPOLY.
And if anyone claims that is is a "democracy," just ask the fucker, "Who the FUCK elected Manmohan, this two-term prime minister?"
Tell him: Take this vote and SHOVE IT!
Tell him: I want Liberty, Property and Happiness as I deem fit.
How did we come to such a sorry pass?
One answer: The Worship of the State - which is what "socialism" is all about. The individual matters naught under such an evil scheme, which is all about the "nation," and its "society," which is represented by the "Party," with its High Command of Gandhians who know nothing about getting high, and then, right on top, is The Great Leader - who is always a Gandhi. I call the CONgress a bunch of "blood worshippers" - they worship the blood of any Nehru they can find, even the widow of one. They do not believe in LOYALTY TO PRINCIPLES - which is what any true "political party" is all about.
Contrast their EVIL ideas with what Frederic Bastiat asked us all to believe in:
To believe in Liberty is to believe in God - and have faith in His creation, Man.
I urge you all to believe in the natural order, in liberty, and in yourself and your fellow man. Do not fear disorder. After all, if you are a "decent" human being, you rarely go to a police station or a court of law - in your entire life.
